Dieter Bischof: Triumph in the White Rush” – A victory for Vorarlberg!
On April 19, 2025, the 26th edition of the popular “The White Rush” race took place in St. Anton am Arlberg. In bright sunshine and challenging piste conditions characterized by heavy, soft snow and moguls, 555 athletes - including skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers - competed. This event not only attracted participants from the region but also international athletes, making the atmosphere electric.
Victory in the men's category went to Dieter Bischof from Vorarlberg, who secured the title for the third time in a row. Dominik Schranz from Tyrol and the local hero Tobias Kerber followed in second place. In the women's category, Petra Zeller from Germany triumphed, followed by local hero Katrin Alber and Chiara Pohlner, also from Germany. In the snowboard category, Mambo Jonckheere from Belgium took victory in the men's event, while Camilla Van-Der-Borg from Austria topped the podium in the women's event.
Special challenges and new routes
The route now started at the new location in Mattunjochboden, which was necessary for safety reasons. The demanding climb, known as “Schmerzensberg”, was 300 meters in altitude. The participants not only faced the challenge of the climb, but also the challenge of the “Pain Mountain”, which offered an additional 150 meters of altitude. Many athletes arrived already dressed in racing gear and ready to show off their best performances. The record time for the route comes from Mathias Gorbach, who clocked an impressive 7 minutes and 9 seconds in 2017.
Another highlight of the race was the comeback of the overall classification “The White Races”, which had 37 participants. This year, Dieter Bischof (men) and Alexandra Braun (women) emerged as the overall winners. The spectators in the finish area created a rousing stadium atmosphere, which further enhanced the event.
