Burgenland Football Association: Dispute over compliance guidelines escalates
The former president of the Burgenland Football Association, Georg Pangl, has claimed that his resignation was demanded too quickly by his colleagues on the executive board due to a compliance conflict. The association has now commented on these allegations for the first time.
It is reported that Pangl made investments in leasing cars without informing the board and the presidium. He allegedly preferred an offer from an Upper Austrian provider over a Burgenland supplier in order to save money. However, the BFV executive committee emphasized that even after the Upper Austrian company adjusted the price, it was still more expensive than the local supplier's offer.
In addition, according to the BFV executive board, Pangl is said to have made threats and intimidation towards the managing directors if they did not act according to his wishes. Pangl himself denies these allegations and describes the situation as a “mud battle”. He emphasizes that he had a good relationship with his colleagues and that after his resignation the matter would be resolved for him.
The executive committee described Pangl's resignation as a necessary step because his understanding of the office was not compatible with the voluntary work of a BFV president. In the coming days, the presidium will discuss the next steps and prepare a proposal for the board.
