Dog swims 100 miles and finds back home after adventure

A dog who was missing for over a month and covered around 160 kilometers - including a mile long swimming trip - was finally brought back to his foster family after being rescued at sea.

The escape of amber

The five -year -old Amber released at the end of April, one day after her arrival in London from Qatar, where she was saved by the streets.

The role of the foster family

sam Collins, co -founder of the non -profit organization ks rescue angels on Tuesday told that Amber on April 25th on an experienced care Region New Forest in southern England. The next morning Amber escaped from the family's garden, although this was secured with two -meter -high fences.

public interest and sightings

About Amber's flight was reported on social media and in the region. Numerous sightings were reported and photos and videos were sent to the emergency services, which made it possible to pursue Amber's movements.

"In the first three weeks, she probably only moved only about 16 kilometers from the place of her disappearance, but in different directions," said Collins.

The search for amber

The pictures and videos they received made it possible for the KS Rescue Angels, cameras and feed stations. "We did this for three or four weeks and always seemed to be one step behind it. Then it was dark around the four -week period and we stopped getting reliable sightings."

Collins suspects that Amber traveled about 48 kilometers to the coastal town of Poole during this time. There, residents reported sightings of a stray dog, but because of the distance nobody could establish the connection.

The adventure on Brownsea Island

It is incredible that Amber managed to swim a mile from the wealthy Sandbank district to the Brownsea island. This is managed by the National Trust and is a retreat for wild animals in which dogs are usually not welcome.

"She spent three days there, there was a search from the National Trust and a lady who lives there and put food for her every night. Probably she was frightened by all the people who tried to capture, frightened and tried to swim back to sandbanks, but got into trouble when she got into the current and at flood," said Collins.

the rescue at sea

Fortunately, Amber was discovered by a passing boat. "She swam to the boat and actually clasped the ladder on the side," said Collins. "They couldn't pull them up because they had clasped their paws so firmly. One of the men jumped into the water to take care of them from behind and push them on board."

The return to the foster family

Again on land, the news of the amazing rescue on social media spread - and finally reached Collins, who recognized Amber on her snout due to a scar.

When picking up, Amber was examined by a veterinarian who found that she had lost weight, but was otherwise in good shape. She is now back with her foster family.

The future life of Amber

"She is very tired, but also very cozy," said Collins. "She has a few bruises, probably from wire or thorn bushes, but apart from that, it is in a remarkable condition under the circumstances."

"It is kept in the garden with at least two, possibly three lines. The foster family is afraid that she will escape again." Collins estimates that Amber covered about 160 kilometers during her adventurous journey.

Amber will stay with the family for at least a few more weeks, after which the KS Rescue Angels hope to find a new home for them.

"The story has caused a sensation and we already have great interest from people they want to adopt," said Collins and added that comprehensive reviews had to be carried out. "We have to make sure that the person to whom she comes to offers her a home with five stars and understands that she is a risk of escape."
