Easter festival Tyrol: Art that inspires - a festival of encounters!

The Easter Festival Tyrol, which stands out by the combination of various art forms, will go into the next round in 2025 with the topic "his_schein". The artistic director Lukas Crepaz explained that the festival not only serves as a platform for observations, but also wants to initiate artistic reflections. This year, rare performances such as Zelenkas "Gesù Al Calvario" and Buxtehudes "Membra Jesu Nostri" will be in focus, complemented by innovative order works by Johannes Maria Staud and Sarah Nemtsov. These programs reflect the striving of the festival to link important works of old music with contemporary compositions, such as the Kleine Zeitung reported .

Financial challenges and audience commitment

Despite an increase in the number of visitors, the festival is faced with financing problems. Crepaz emphasized that about 40 percent of the audience are new every year, which is a sign of the attraction of the festival. Nevertheless, financing remains a constant problem, since the inflation also affects art in many areas, while state subsidies often stagnate. However, Crepaz is optimistic and plans to intensify the cooperation with young people and test new artistic formats to adapt the festival future challenges.

Lukas Crepaz, born in 1981 in Tyrol, brings extensive experience in the cultural administration that will benefit him for the management of the Easter Festival. Previously, he acted in various key positions, including as a financial manager of the European Capital of Culture Ruhr, 2010. He has been running the Salzburg Festival since April 2017 and extended his contract in 2021 until March 2027. Crepaz has thus established itself as an important player in the domestic cultural scene to provide new impulses in art and culture, as well as the Salzburger Festival .
