Respiratory diseases in the rise: Covid-19 and virus threaten MV!

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the practices are overcrowded! Respiratory diseases are increasing, and the numbers speak a clear language: 23.8 percent of the diseases are currently due to the pathogen Sars-Cov-2, as the latest weekly report from the State Office for Health and Social Affairs reveals. The coronavirus, which made headlines in 2020, is still a serious health factor.

But not only the coronavirus causes problems! The circulation of other respiratory pathogens, such as rhinoviruses with 18.1 percent and parain fluenzavirus with 4.1 percent, causes people to cough, cause body aches and fever. The patients flock to doctor's practices - most recently, the number of visits due to respiratory diseases was well above the average of the previous year. Alexander Kujat, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Schwerin, draws attention to the alarming situation.

Vaccinations are urgently recommended!

The Minister of Health of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Stefanie Drese (SPD), particularly warns risk groups: A flu vaccination is now essential! For people over the age of 60, she also recommends a Corona refresher vaccination in the coming autumn. In the vaccination campaign, however, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania still has some catching up to do-75.8 percent of the population are vaccinated at least once, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which only ends up in the middle of the nationwide comparison. Nationwide, this value is 78.1 percent.
