reading promotion for the future
Reading is an indispensable part of our life, be it communicating about social media or researching information. For this reason, the Federal Ministry has put the importance of reading in the foreground and offers numerous programs and materials to support teachers and students. These programs are part of a broader approach to improve reading skills, including the introduction of a nationwide reading leg for schools, which will be awarded from the school year 2024/2025. Schools that implement innovative methods to strengthen reading culture have the chance of this honor, as on the website of bmbwfIn addition, the Austrian reading day, which already recorded a great success with almost 9,000 registrations in 2024, will take place again in March 2025 in order to further increase enthusiasm for reading. Curricables in primary and secondary level are increasingly integrating the focus on reading skills, which laid the foundation for an improved reading culture in schools. These concerted measures are intended to ensure that all children in Austria have the opportunity to fully exploit their reading skills and to develop a lifelong joy of reading.
