Hiking group saved in Tyrol: Mountain shortage before Christmas!
A dramatic rescue operation occurred on December 24, 2024 in Tyrol when seven German hikers aged 21 to 39 have come into a dangerous situation. On December 23, the group had ventured their departure from the "Wegscheid" parking lot towards "Rosswildalm". Due to inadequate equipment and constant physical exhaustion, they were neither able to achieve their goal nor take their way back. In their need, they looked for refuge in the "Kuhwildalm", where they could not directly request help due to a lack of mobile phone reception. Finally, the hikers used a satellite phone to make an emergency call, which the rescue workers finally alerted, such as 5min.at reported.
At 10.50 a.m., the emergency call reached the Tyrol control center, which immediately mobilized rescue teams. A total of 24 emergency services from the mountain rescues from Hopfgarten, Westendorf and Kitzbühel were involved, supported by two firefighters from the Kitzbühel volunteer fire brigade before the police arrived on site. The rescue was demanding, and the hikers were brought to the nearby "Bamberger Hütte" with a caterpillar quad and partly on foot, where they could be medical care href = "https://news.feed-reader.net/otsat/438413/polizei-tirol-alpine-notlage-in/"> news.feed-reader.net . The rapid reaction of the emergency services prevented worse and shows the importance of mountain rescue in emergencies in alpine regions.
