On September 20, 2025, a serious accident occurred on the L 215 Unterinntalstrasse in Stans, Tyrol at around 1:00 p.m., in which a 30-year-old German motorcyclist was seriously injured. The collision occurred when the motorcyclist, who was traveling in the wrong direction, collided head-on with a car that was controlled by a 38-year-old Austrian. This serious frontal collision took place in a curve and led to the motorcyclist slipping against the car.
After the accident, the motorcyclist came to the street and was immediately supplied by the car driver and other vehicle occupants. Despite the quick help, the condition of the motorcyclist was critical and he was flown to the Innsbruck Clinic with the Nah Heli 4 rescue helicopter. Fortunately, the car driver and the transported cows were not injured.
Fire and rescue measures
Due to the collision, the motorcycle ignited, which led to a fire that quickly also attacked the car. The Austrian was able to disconnect the cattle trailer in good time to prevent another risk. Both vehicles burned out almost completely.
The rescue measures included several emergency services, including the Stans and Jenbach fire brigade with a total of seven vehicles and around 30 people, the ambulance and several police strips. The Unterinntalstrasse was completely closed for two and a half hours to support the emergency services in the extinguishing work and to secure the scene of the accident.
A 60-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in another tragic incident that occurred shortly before on Fernpassstraße (B 179) in Nassereith.
