US President Donald Trump will reportedly watch the Super Bowl final between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles live in New Orleans on Sunday. According to a White House official quoted by both CNN and Axios, this is the first appearance of a sitting US president at a Super Bowl. This could further tighten the already tight security measures in the city, especially in light of the tragic events on New Year's Day, when a terrorist with a pickup truck killed 14 people and injured many more on the famous Bourbon Street abcnews.com reported.
The security measures for the mega event are enormous: over 2,700 state, local and federal security forces will be deployed. Cathy Lanier, the NFL's chief security officer, emphasized that all details of the Jan. 1 incident were reviewed multiple times to minimize potential security risks. The event has the highest level of security, SEAR 1, under the direction of a special Homeland Security agent in New Orleans, ABC News reported.
