Kreml rejects reports about Trump-Tutin conversation as "pure fiction"

In a dramatic exchange of blows, the Kremlin described the reports of an alleged phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin as a "pure fiction". According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, there were no conversations in which Trump asked Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine. "This is completely wrong. There was no conversation," said Peskov and criticized the media for the spread of such "wrong information".

Speculation about the conversation was heated by a report by the Washington Post, the said that Trump called on Thursday from his property in Mar-A-Lago, just a few days after his surprising election victory over Kamala Harris. Sources that wanted to remain anonymous reported that Trump reminded Putin of the massive military presence of the United States in Europe and expressed interest in further discussions on solving the Ukraine conflict. But Trump's communication director Steven Cheung refused to confirm the existence of the conversation, and explained that there were no private conversations between Trump and other heads of state.
