Mahrer calls for clear direction: Austria's economy needs an international course!

In a dramatic appeal, the President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Harald Mahrer, called on the future government to adopt a clear international orientation in order to strengthen the country's export-oriented economy. According to Mahrer, the majority of the population would like to actively participate in the European community and reject any isolation policy. Werner Kogler, the federal spokesman for the Green Party, made it clear that Mahrer had the responsibility to end the talks with the FPÖ. This party is considered hostile to Europe and favors Putin's course. Kogler calls for a renewed focus on constructive dialogues in order to promote the well-being of Austrian entrepreneurs.  As APA-OTS reported, the international economic course is of essential importance for Austria.

Harald Mahrer: An influential actor

Harald Mahrer is not only President of the Chamber of Commerce, but also has an impressive career in politics and business. After graduating from high school, he studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where he became politically active. From 2011 to 2013 he was managing director of a management consultancy and held important positions during his career, such as vice president of the ÖVP business association. His appointment as President of the Austrian Economic Chamber in May 2018 was a further step in his career, which is characterized by a variety of top positions. As Wikipedia reports, Mahrer has received increasing criticism due to his multiple functions and the associated accusations of post-cheating.

These current statements and the critical reactions act as a magnifying glass for the challenges facing the relationship between business and politics in Austria. While Mahrer is pushing for international cooperation, political actors are calling for responsibility and an end to alliances that are considered dangerous for European integration.
