Gas prices driven up by possible attacks on Russia!
The European natural gas prize experienced a striking increase on Friday, triggered by unconfirmed reports of a possible attack on a Russian guest transport system in the Kursk region. The directional schedule TTF for delivery in one month rose to 45.49 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), which has been marked for around two weeks. On the previous trading day, the price was still below 43 euros, which makes this increase particularly noticeable, as krone.at reported.
After the price was significantly upholidated in Amsterdam at the beginning of the trade, there was a slight correction and the gas price fell to 43.99 euros. Experts warn that the unconfirmed videos on social networks that indicate the attack could jeopardize Russian gas deliveries to Europe. The gas exports of Russia run through the border region of Kursk, which was partly conquered by Ukrainian troops last August. However, these could be largely replaced recently, as was also described by Finance.net
The Situation remains tense because a new conflict in the region could significantly influence Europe's energy supply security. The next trade lessons will be crucial to observe how this volatile situation will affect prices.
