Austria's biathlon heroes: just a blink of an eye to the medal!

An exciting race at the Biathlon World Championship in Pokljuka performed great performances, but also some missed opportunities for Austria. The mixed relay, consisting of Lea Rothschopf, Anna Andexer, Patrick Jakob and David Komatz, achieved an excellent fourth place and thus made valuable points in the Nations Cup well. While Sweden celebrated the victory, followed by France and Norway, the final runner David Komatz showed in particular with his flawless performance that he belongs to the absolute top. On the last few meters he overtook Tommaso Giacomel from Italy, who ended up in a solid rank. According to Laola1.at, Komatz succeeded in the fastest term on his final round and helped significantly reduce the distance to the other teams what could be decisive for the next season.

But the World Cup not only brought pleasing moments. As Ski1.at reported, Komatz was also active in the individual competition and had the chance of a podium. He remained flawless in the first three shooting, but two mistakes in the last shooting led him back to 26th place and cost him urgently needed points. Fredrik Mühlbacher also confirmed his potential by taking 34th place despite three mistakes. The experienced Simon Eder, on the other hand, did not find the race and landed in 41, while Patrick Jakob slipped to 52 with four missed destinations. This shows how thin the line between success and failure is in this highly competitive sport. Norway, the other biathlon power, had to drive home without a medal this year, which influenced the picture at the top.

In the middle of these excitement, Eric Perrot from France takes over the main role in the individual competition and secures his first gold medal in the category. Silver goes to Tommaso Giacomel, while Quentin Fillon Maillet's bronze place also goes to a French team member. The tension remains in Oslo until next week if there are further decisions in the Nations Cup and the teams fight for valuable starting positions.
