French streamer dies live with extreme challenge

The French police are investigating in the case of the popular streamer Raphaël Graven, better known as Jean Pormanove or JP, who died during an almost 12-day live stream. According to reports, he suffered from abusive and humiliating treatment. The 46-year-old military veteran was one of the largest streamers on the Kick platform in France and attracted over a million fans on various platforms.

The tragic incident and the investigation

Graven, who died on Monday, had worked with other streamers in recent years, including Owen Cenazandotti, also known as Naruto, and Safine Hamadi. These two streams together with him on his last livestream. Cenazandotti announced the death of Pormanove on Monday on Instagram. During the livestream, in which his death was apparently seen, the audience began to donate money to inform the other streamers about Pormanove's critical condition.

The public prosecutor of Nice announced CNN that an investigation into his death was initiated and an autopsy was ordered. So far, no accusations in connection with Pormanove's death have been brought.

Ill -treatment and public humiliation

In numerous videos from past livestreams, it becomes clear that Pormanove repeatedly was the goal of jokes, bullying, physical attacks and humiliating stunts. The clashes from his common livestreams show how his fellow campaigners tried to choke it or shot it at with color marking pistols and poured water.

Thanks to the donations of the audience, the group generated income from the live streams. In the last livestream of Pormanove, a counter on the upper edge of the screen showed that the group had earned around 36,000 euros ($ 42,000).

A worrying course

During the almost 300 -hour live stream, the participants were awakened by the sound of a motorcycle or a leaf blower. At one point, pormanove was woken up with a bucket of water. In an interview with the French broadcaster BFMTV, Yassin Sadouni, a lawyer from Cenazandotti, said that pormanove suffered from heart problems.

In a video, Pormanove spoke about having to take medication regularly. In another clip, Cenazandotti claimed to read messages from Pormanove in which he stated that he was "held" by the colleagues. "The game goes too far," was one of the messages that were read out during Pormanove's last lives streams.

Public reactions and consequences

Pormanove's mother accused him of having his hair cut off by his fellow streamers. "Are you proud of your hair? Did you see what you did to you?" She asked him. Sadouni explained that Pormanoves mother took part in staged actions with the streamers.

A recurring topic in the discussions with his colleagues was Pormanove's desire to marry and get children, which was often mocked by the streamers. In a video from 2024, Pormanove was asked as he would have liked to remember him. "No woman, no children. But what a nice guy!" replied pormanove.

The reactions to Pormanove's death

Sadouni explained that Cenazandotti, known as Naruto, had nothing to do with Pormanove's death and the incidents that were directed against pormanove were all staged. "My client is ready to testify and provide all useful information," he said. Cenazandotti also submitted a complaint to the authorities because it has been bothered online since Pormanove's death.

The Nice prosecutor's public prosecutor said that they are investigating the allegation of abusing vulnerable persons. "The death of Jean Pormanove and the violence he has suffered are an absolute horror," said Clara Chappaz, the French State Secretary for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, on X. "Jean Pormanove was humiliated and treated live on the kick platform for months," she added.

The streaming platform Kick said that everyone involved in the transfer was blocked until further notice and that they would cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
