In Pongau, a 17-year-old victim of a blackmail that is related to a sex video. The alleged perpetrators, a 16-year-old Russian and a 20-year-old Turk, had put the young people under pressure with a secretly recorded video. The victim was initially confronted with a claim of 5,000 euros, which later increased to a total of 19,000 euros. In addition to the main perpetrator, the threat of spreading the video also came from a friend of the 20-year-old, who was also in possession of the material. The police were informed about the incident at 6:31 p.m. after the young person had contacted a friend.
When the money was planned on Tuesday evening, the investigators were able to arrest the perpetrators. Despite their attempts to escape, the 16-year-old and the 20-year-old were quickly caught and admitted to the Salzburg prison in Puch-Urstein, where they are now in custody. The suspects' smartphones have been secured and are now to be evaluated. There is suspicion of blackmail and possibly also to spread child pornographic content. The police encouraged people to quickly contact trustworthy adults in order to report the matter in good time.

In 2023, 16% of young people were affected, an increase compared to 14% in 2021. Over 50% of young people also reported that they had experienced cyberbullying in their immediate vicinity.
What is particularly alarming is that many of those affected do not receive any help. Statistically, 15% of those affected said they received no support for their experiences with cyberbullying.
