Koblenz opens the first certified cancer center in Rhineland-Palatinate!
In Koblenz, a radiant light for cancer patients is lit! The new oncological center of the Middle Rhine Community Clinic (GKM) has opened its doors and promises first -class treatment for everyone who is confronted with the terrible diagnosis of cancer. This center is the first of its kind in northern Rhineland-Palatinate and belongs to a network of seven cancer centers in the region.
The German Cancer Society (DKG) has now officially certified the GKM to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. The center is checked again every year to guarantee the high standards. The chief physicians Kilian Weigand and Jens Chemnitz emphasize that doctors specialize in cancer and have already treated over 6,000 patients this year - an impressive sign of the expertise of the center!

Another highlight is the so-called tumor board, where experts come together from different fields to create individual therapy plans for every patient. The oncological center has continued to develop since 2008, starting with breast cancer treatment and now also with specialized departments for colon cancer, pancreatic cancer and more. Future extensions for prostate cancer and gynecological cancer are already being planned!
The GKM offers not only medical support, but also psychological help and the opportunity to participate in clinical studies. The patients and their relatives also receive palliative support if healing is no longer possible. Chief Physician Jens Chemnitz announces that the technical possibilities of the center should be further expanded, including robot -based operations and new modules for the early detection of cancer.
