A40 closure near Duisburg: Commuters have to be patient until Monday!

Shock for all drivers! The A40 near Duisburg will once again be a test of patience. At the Kaiserberg intersection, the motorway in the direction of Essen is now completely closed - and for a serious reason: road sagging! Autobahn GmbH speaks of an “emergency measure” that requires immediate action.

The latest information is here! On Friday, November 8th, Autobahn GmbH announced that the exploratory work following the critical roadway subsidence had been completed. But the good news has a bitter aftertaste: the repair work will last until Monday morning, November 11th. Until then, the full closure will remain in place and will cause massive traffic disruptions.

Traffic chaos for commuters

The situation for commuters is anything but positive. Road users will be redirected in the direction of Essen via the A59, which means that access from the A59 to the A40 is no longer possible. The Kaiserberg area should therefore be bypassed extensively in order to avoid traffic jams. This closure is not the first of its kind: only in August, the A40 near Duisburg was closed for several days due to renovation work, and there is currently a full closure in Bochum, which is scheduled to last until November 19th.

The A40 is a key transport route and the repeated closures make commuting a real challenge. Drivers have to be prepared for longer journey times and plan their routes carefully to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams. The nerves of road users are put to the test!
