The revolutionary change is here! Dr. Oetker, the well-known manufacturer of pizza and desserts, is taking a huge step towards the future, away from fossil fuels! From hot pizza to sweet treats – everything will now be produced using renewable energy and without harmful fossil fuels. By 2030, all pizza production will be converted to green energy, followed by other food plants, with the ambitious goal of achieving zero total emissions worldwide by 2050.

Dr. Oetker uses electricity at its locations exclusively from renewable sources, supported by massive photovoltaic systems. In 2023 alone, over 3.5 million kWh of self-generated electricity was used - that's enough for over 1,000 households in Germany! “We have big plans!” says Tobias Bauer, Senior Executive Manager Pizza Production Unit, emphasizing the need to work without gas in order to master the switch to sustainable energy.

Fossil Fuel Free – Dr. Oetker is leading the way!

The ambitious strategy is implemented through four main goals: First, reducing energy consumption, then generating at least 10% of electricity requirements through their own photovoltaic systems by 2030. Furthermore, the energy generated is used effectively in their factories, supported by modern technologies such as heat pumps and electric ovens. Last but not least, renewable energy should be stored safely!

The ambitious “Fossil Fuel Free” project is in line with Dr. Oetker Sustainability Charter and the commitment to scientific objectives for climate protection. Sustainability has a lot to do with Dr. Oetker has a long tradition, and the path to a climate-neutral future is inspired by a clear commitment to corporate responsibility. A considerable investment not only protects the environment, but also enables employees to work sustainably.
