A dramatic incident shocked Middels on Wednesday afternoon when a car was engulfed in flames on Osterlooger Straße! The fire department was alerted and quickly arrived at the scene, but the gasoline-powered vehicle was already completely burned out. Fire department spokesman Sönke Geiken reported on a rapid operation in which the firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, first used water and then foam to combat the flames.
The extinguishing work was anything but easy! The emergency services used a thermal imaging camera to constantly keep an eye on the body in order to discover hidden embers. Firefighters battled the fire for over an hour, while police and the Lower Water Authority were also at the scene to monitor the situation. The result? A completely destroyed vehicle that was eventually recovered by a towing company. A shocking sight for everyone involved!
