Güstrow chooses new mayor: Scandal about candidate causes excitement!

In Güstrow, the seventh largest city in Germany, the elections for the new mayor are just around the corner, and the tension is tangible! After 21 years in office, the independent mayor Arne Schuldt will not run again. But the signs for the election on November 10th are alarming: the turnout could fall under 40 percent! While 3,300 postal voting documents were still requested in the local elections in June, this time it is only 2,100 - a dramatic decline of one third!

The candidates in focus

Ten brave candidates face the challenge of succeeding Schuldt. Among them are the government inspector Feyco Featers, the podiatrist Christiane Held and the sales manager Stefan Höpner from the SPD. But the choice is overshadowed by controversy! Christiane Held is at the center of a scandal: Insolvency proceedings were opened against her, which she kept secret from the election committee. Despite this serious unveiling, it was approved for election because the decision has already been made. This means that despite her questionable financial situation, she can continue to choose!

But that's not all! Another candidate is also faced with allegations that affect his insolvency. A craftsman even brought a court ruling on an unpaid invoice, but this information was not passed on to the election management and thus remained unexpected. The voters in Güstrow are faced with a crucial choice, and the uncertainties around the candidates throw a shadow on the entire process. The clock ticks and the citizens have to decide who should take over the helm in this critical period!
