Power failure in Fulda: Short circuit ensures darkness in the city center!
An unexpected power failure hit parts of the city center of Fulda on Monday evening, October 14th. Rhönenergy has now announced the cause of the problem, which left many households without electricity between 8.10 p.m. and 9.45 p.m.
The press spokesman for Rhönenergie, Dr. Volker Nies said that a short circuit caused the failure in a 20,000-volt earth cable. This disorder led to a further short circuit in a transformer station on Heinrichstrasse. A total of around 100 households were affected on Lindenstrasse, Heinrichstrasse, Petersberger Straße, Leipziger Straße and in Horaser Weg.
Restored the power supply successfully
The efforts of the technicians of the Rhönenergie network company Osthessennetz have quickly borne fruit. At 9:45 p.m., Nies was able to report that the power supply for all affected households was restored. "The technical intervention worked well and we thank people for their patience during the failure," said Nies.
However, the situation initially developed chaotic when the "Katwarn" alarm app reported the power failure. The users were asked to minimize their electricity consumption and inform themselves about local messages to stay up to date.
Before the incident, there was a similar power failure on October 9, which, however, only lasted an hour and was also quickly remedied by the technicians. From these incidents, the Rhönenergy gains important findings to improve the network stability in the region.
For the exact cause of the failure, including the technical detail of the double short circuit, an incoming analysis is currently being worked on. Dr. Nies apologized for all inconvenience and assured that the error examination would soon be completed.
Over the years, Rhönenergy endeavors to continuously monitor the infrastructure and to react to possible problems early in order to ensure the quality of life in Fulda and the surrounding communities. This is particularly important at a time when power failures can have unpredictable effects on daily life.
The incidents remind you that despite the progress in technology, disorders can also occur. Citizens now have the opportunity to be informed directly about the current developments in their area, in particular by emergency systems such as "Katwarn".
The events in Fulda are another example of how important a well -functioning energy structure is. The incident not only caused short -term inconvenience, but also raises questions about the long -term reliability and stability of the power grid.
