Friedrichshafen: New Mayor takes over ZF supervisory board!
In Friedrichshafen there is a change at the head of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The new mayor Simon Blümcke was elected to the company's supervisory board at an extraordinary general meeting. He succeeds Andreas Brand, who was in office until October 31. Blümcke also takes over the city council of the city and will work in his role until at least March 2028, such as Schwäbische.de reported. The Zeppelin Foundation, which holds 93.8 % of the shares in ZF, is managed in trust by the city and remains a central institution in the corporate structure.
Strategic course for ZF
Blümcke emphasizes the importance of the foundation as a load -bearing element for ZF and rejects an IPO. As the Stuttgarter Zeitung reports, he sees the foundation idea as a strength because he promotes long -term, sustainable decisions. This perspective had already been represented by his predecessor Andreas Brand, who had rejected the idea of an IPO to gain risk -financed capital.
The coming years could be turbulent for ZF: The group is planning to significantly reduce the number of employees in Germany and could reduce up to 14,000 jobs by 2028. Despite these challenges, ZF remains one of the largest automotive suppliers worldwide, with sales of 46.6 billion euros in 2023 and 169,000 employees at 160 locations in 30 countries.
