Stuttgart wins silver in the city ranking – Munich remains unmatched!

Stuttgart, the vibrant state capital of Baden-Württemberg, has made a remarkable rise in the current “Wirtschaftswoche” city ranking and secured the silver medal! But the shadow of its eternal rival Munich remains: the Bavarian metropolis is once again in first place and leaves Stuttgart behind. Is the city doomed to always come second? Cannstatter Wasen and VfB Stuttgart seem to share the fate of the runner-up!

In the latest edition of the ranking, which was published on November 15th, Stuttgart has moved up one place compared to the previous year and has prevailed against all other major German cities. The performance is particularly impressive in the economic performance category, where Stuttgart takes pole position. In the highly competitive housing category, the city secured third place. Mayor Frank Nopper (CDU) expressed optimism about the results, but emphasized that “wide-awake optimism” was necessary in difficult times.

Stuttgart: rise to start-up capital

Although Stuttgart did not get past Munich, the city left other metropolises such as Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Frankfurt behind. Another bright spot: According to another analysis by WirtschaftsWoche, Stuttgart has become the start-up capital of Germany and has overtaken hip Berlin. These developments show that the Swabian metropolis is on the right track in many areas, even if competition with Munich continues. The question remains: Can Stuttgart take first place one day?
