Leverkusen fails again: Hrádecký speaks of a slap in the face”
Bayer Leverkusen has once again failed to secure important points! In the thrilling duel against VfL Bochum, the game on Saturday ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw. While Bayern triumphed against St. Pauli, Leverkusen fell by the wayside and now finds itself nine points behind. Captain Lukáš Hrádecký spoke of a “hard slap in the face” – and rightly so! After five draws in the last six games, including against the league leaders, the mood is tense.
Leverkusen gambled away the victory
Leverkusen started strongly: Patrik Schick gave the Werkself the lead in the 18th minute. But the joy only lasted for a short time! In the 89th minute, Koji Miyoshi equalized for bottom-placed Bochum, who are playing under new coach Dieter Hecking. Hrádecký was visibly disappointed: "We're giving Bochum the opportunity for a goal like that to happen. I'm very disappointed, we wanted to take the three points." Once again, Leverkusen lost a win against a basement child - that's not only frustrating, but also alarming!
Shocking statistics
The numbers speak volumes: Leverkusen have already lost eleven points after leading this season! With just 16 out of 27 possible points after a lead, Xabi Alonso's team is in 15th place in the league in this discipline. For comparison: In the championship season, Alonso's team didn't lose a single point after taking the lead. In order to be able to seriously stand up to FC Bayern, more consistency is urgently needed. The next attempt to turn things around will take place on November 23rd against 1. FC Heidenheim. The fans are hoping for a return to their old strength!
