Zeilinger demands freedom and courage for the formation of the future!
In an impressive lecture in Vienna, over a thousand listeners gathered, including numerous students, to hear the Nobel Prize winner Anton Zeilinger. He attached particular importance to encouraging the young generation to reflect on the world. Zeilinger called for a fundamental reform of the education system: "It takes much less bureaucracy. Also for the teachers. Rather, it also needs openness to ideas," he explained. This change should make it possible for teachers to gain more freedom for creative teaching methods, while at the same time the students have to be rated objectively. He also acquaintances that too much has to be explained in today's world, for which what is taught should be good - a process that disabled creativity.
A plea for the future
In his lecture, Zeilinger recalled his own school days, in which he was considered an outsider. "I was an outsider," he said, wished that talented young people at school would be better recognized and encouraged to develop their talents. It is crucial for the physicist that these students are brought together with "uncomfortable" fellow human beings to make courageous decisions and take risks that are necessary for real innovation. Zeilinger emphasized that many publications are not really new today and pointed out that research should be focused on the public and challenge.
In addition, at the event, Zeilinger expressed his concerns about the separation between the new Digitaluni and the Johannes Kepler University, as this was disadvantageous for both institutions. "That belongs in the future," he affirmed. He also found that in Austria there is still a lack of sufficient support for research, especially for projects whose results are unsure. These demands were underlined by the greetings from Alexander van der Bellen and the text experiments carried out between him and the Ki-Chatbot Chatgpt. Zeilinger and those present agreed that a more brave and more open approach to education and research is necessary to optimally use the potential of the next generation, as well as of Sn.at reported.
