Starting next year, digital healthcare in Germany will be revolutionized: the introduction of the electronic patient record (ePA) is imminent. According to AOK Bayern, all insured people in statutory health insurance companies automatically have access to the ePA. This innovative solution stores all important medical data digitally and enables a transparent overview of the patient's health status. Bernd Ruppert, director of AOK Kaufbeuren-Ostallgäu, emphasizes that patients retain sovereignty over their data and can decide for themselves who can see what information. Data security guaranteed
The security of data is the focus of the ePA. AOK assures that the data is highly encrypted and stored on German servers. Doctors only have access to treatment procedures, and only if the electronic health card is used. Critical security measures ensure that unauthorized persons do not have access to sensitive health data. This was ensured, among other things, through penetration tests in which simulated hacker attacks were successfully repelled.
