Buckingham Palace has the official Christmas card 2024 for King Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, announced.
The festive portrait
On Saturday, the image chosen for the festive greetings, taken by Millie Pilkington this year, was released. Pilkington is one of the UK's most respected portrait photographers and has taken numerous photographs of the Royal Family over the years.
The portrait of the happy couple was taken in the gardens of Buckingham Palace in April. It shows King Charles, 76 years old, wearing a gray suit with a blue tie, standing in profile with his hand in his trouser pocket. Wearing a blue wool ensemble from luxury fashion house Fiona Clare, Camilla, 77, stands next to him.
Christmas message inside
The message inside the card reads: “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” This card is a more casual variation compared to last year's photo in the throne room at Buckingham Palace Coronation ceremony of the king was taken.
Traditions of the royal family
Senior members of the Windsor clan traditionally issue a copy of the seasonal card to send to family, friends and colleagues. Royal watchers are now eagerly awaiting this year's card from the Wales family.
Activities of the Prince and Princess of Wales
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been very busy in recent days. Prince William traveled to France on Saturday to take part in the reopening celebrations for Notre Dame to participate. The Paris cathedral underwent extensive restoration after a devastating fire in 2019.
During his stay in the French capital, the heir to the throne met US First Lady Jill Biden and President Donald Trump.
Christmas concert in Westminster Abbey
On Friday evening, William's wife, Catherine, hosted her annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey. The evening, dedicated to those who have “shown love, kindness and compassion for others in their communities,” included performances by the Westminster Abbey Choir as well as British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean, American musician Gregory Porter and British hitmaker Paloma Faith.
Prince William, Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty and actors Sophie Okonedo, Michelle Dockery and Richard E. Grant gave readings.
