Vacation catastrophe: from Venice to the snow -covered north!
A Korean couple accidentally in Vännäs, Sweden instead of Venice, Italy during a trip through Europe. The confusion of the destination caused the couple to arrive in Vännäs in the deepest winter with 20 centimeters of snow. The trip started in Stockholm and lasted about seven hours. Young Chin Paik and HEUNG WON PAIK expressed themselves humorously about the unexpected situation and still enjoyed the experience.
VISIT Sweden put together a collection of amusing faults that tourists experienced in Sweden. Other similar incidents include a traveler who ended up in Germany in Germany instead of Kiel in Germany, and a traveler from Kiruna, Sweden's northernmost city, who incorrectly landed in Uganda while he wanted to see the northern lights. In Sweden there are a variety of places with similar names that can easily lead to confusion, such as Paris in Värmland or Madrid in Austria.
survey for perception of tourists
A YouGov survey showed that about eight percent of the respondents have already landed at the wrong destination. With regard to the perception of tourist nations, the survey shows that Japanese tourists are considered the most popular worldwide, especially in Finland (26 percent) and France (18 percent). While German tourists end up in the Flop 5 in many European countries, they are popular in France and take second place behind Japanese. In Spain and Norway in particular, German tourists have a bad reputation with 17 percent and 16 percent.
British and Russian tourists in Europe do even worse, especially British vacationers who are unpopular in Germany (39 percent) and Spain (46 percent). In Scandinavia, Russian tourists have the worst reputation, while in Asia Chinese tourists in countries like Singapore and Vietnam are considered the most unpopular.
