Lienz celebrates tennis star: Lilli Tagger wins junior French openings!

In a historical moment for Austrian tennis sports, 17-year-old Lilli Tagger was the first Austrian to win the title in the Junior Interior of the French Open. In the final, the unsetual player from Lienz, East Tyrol, impressively prevailed against British Hannah Klugman with 6-2, 6-0. In doing so, she secured her first big title without giving a set throughout the entire tournament. Tagger also won on her way to the title against four players, including the current world ranking emerson Jones in the semifinals, and had previously noticed as a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open in January.

Tagger, who played her first youth tournaments at the age of seven, received extensive support from her family. Her father Stephan and her mother Sabine were both active tennis players in the Bundesliga, which may also have sparked Lilli's passion for sport. However, while the family was always behind Lilli, she never pushed her into a tennis. Lilli has two siblings, Emma (19) and Ben (20), who also encourage them.

a world rankings project and an exciting final

With her victory in Paris, Lilli received numerous media inquiries and congratulations. On the Sunday after her triumph, an appointment with her sponsor Nike was on the plan, followed by the spectacular finale between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, which she followed live in Stade Roland Garros. Her impressive performance is also due to the cooperation with the former French Open winner Francesca Schiavone, who not only trains Tagger, but also gave her important mental advice before the final. Schiavone, who triumphed in Roland Garros 15 years ago, also helped Lilli to develop her one -handed backhand.

Tagger has already made plans after their victory to optimally prepare for the next challenge. She will train in Milan and prepare for the junior tournament in Wimbledon, which will begin on July 5. In the current form, it could also play a considerable role there.
