Samsung brings Ballie AI: The robot that revolutionizes your home!

Samsung has announced the launch of its spherical robot Ballie AI, scheduled for the first half of 2025. In a presentation at CES 2024 held in Las Vegas, Ballie was presented as an impressive concept, but the device was not yet ready for market at the time. Once fully developed, Ballie is expected to be able to roll around the home and communicate with users using a camera and projector. For example, the device projects films onto walls and can answer questions about types of wine and their combination with food, such as pz-news.de reported.

The first version of Ballie was shown at CES 2020 five years ago and has undergone several significant redesigns in the meantime. In previous demonstrations, Ballie also interacted with pets and showed off his versatility. Planned features include projecting stars on ceilings, displaying directions and meetings on walls. However, Samsung has not yet revealed any additional details or pricing for the robot, adding to the excitement for its upcoming launch. Meanwhile, Amazon has had a similar robot called Astro since 2021, but it is only offered to selected interested parties in the USA. Amazon has also abandoned its plan to use Astro as a surveillance robot tomsguide.com reported.

Technology in focus

The trend towards mobile AI devices in home technology is growing rapidly. Samsung's Ballie AI, similar to Amazon's Astro, will be equipped with a variety of cameras and sensors to detect its surroundings and support users. The robot will respond to voice commands and “foot presses” to perform various tasks, which is said to give it greater interactivity and ease of use. Apple is also reportedly planning to enter the smart home technology market, with announcements expected in March.
