Vienna in the educational chaos: youthful perpetrators and false solutions!
Vienna in the educational chaos: youthful perpetrators and false solutions!
In the Vienna Education Discourse, the urgently needed reforms are currently being discussed. The FPÖ club chairman and educational spokesman Maximilian Krauss is criticism of the latest proposals from Neos-Bildungskratrat Christoph Return. He describes this as "too late" and a "half -hearted patchwork". Krauss emphasizes that this is a clear reaction to the drastic increase in problems at Vienna's schools, which can no longer be ignored. In his criticism, he realizes that the city government is launching new programs in order to act against so -called criminal intensive offenders, i.e. criminal children under the age of 14. However, this is not enough and he calls for a reduction in penalty to 12 years to ensure more intensive consequences for the suspects, as Krauss notes.
At the same time, Christoph Retonend sees a comprehensive need for reform in relation to the suspension of students. He warns that suspension alone is not a solution and instead a holistic package of measures at the federal level is required to effectively work with the young people concerned. In fact, the number of suspenders in Vienna dropped from 386 to 338 in the first semester of the current school year, which corresponds to a decrease of 12 percent. This measure is often prescribed in violence, property damage or threats. As return, it is not a punishment, but a temporary security measure. An earlier statement by Elisabeth Fuchs, the Viennese education director, underlines the opinion that the suspenders cannot achieve a real learning effect.
measures for violence prevention
In order to counteract violence among young people, a package of measures was put together under return, which includes a program for intensive offenders, among other things. This program, which is currently in the award, is expected to cost around 500,000 euros and aim to support children under the age of 14 who committed serious offenses by cooperation with the police and youth welfare. In addition, the cooperation with the Derad association is strengthened in order to relieve teachers who work on the problem cases. The number of participants of the "family in schools" classes is also increased from 100 to 300 to ensure better support for parents and children. Like the reporting of ots and apa this is a decisive step in dealing with the violent youth crime in Vienna.
