Series of burglaries over the weekend: Police warn of Christmas crime!

In the Rhein-Erft district, the police have identified a wave of break-ins in residential buildings that occurred on the weekend of December 21st to 22nd, 2024. The perpetrators struck in Brühl, Kerpen and Frechen and stole cash. Early on Saturday morning between 3 a.m. and 3:45 a.m., unknown people entered a house on Waldstrasse in Frechen, where they stole cash unattended during the night. In Kerpen, the burglars broke into a building on Gustav-Heinemann-Strasse through a patio door between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. and ransacked several rooms there, also looking for cash. How news.de reported that there was also a break-in in Brühl between Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday morning at 1:30 a.m. in which cupboards were ransacked, although the amount of property stolen is still being determined.

Police warn of break-ins during the holidays

Investigators from Criminal Investigation Department 13 have called on the public to remain vigilant, especially during the upcoming holidays. In their press release, the Rhein-Erft district police warned that burglars are also active during this time. “Show that you are at home,” advises the police and recommends locking doors and windows even during short absences. Information about suspicious people or activities can be reported to the police by calling 02271/810 or by email, as stated in a report by ksta.de held.

The police also offer group consultations on crime prevention, which take place in Hürth or Bergheim to help citizens better protect their homes against break-ins. The experts continue to provide advice and are available to answer questions by telephone or email.
