Mayor Koza brutally attacked: community in shock and horror!

There is horror in Vösendorf: Mayor Hannes Koza (ÖVP) was brutally attacked on Tuesday evening as he walked through the castle park on his way home. An unknown man punched him in the face and made it clear to him in a shocking threat: “You won’t survive tomorrow’s meeting!” Koza immediately filed a police report and was treated at the hospital for an examination, where X-rays of his face were also taken. "It's just sad. I really didn't think it would come to this," the mayor told the "Kronen Zeitung". The police have confirmed the attack.

The Koza family calls for de-escalation

His wife Daniela reacted with dismay to this incident and posted a photo of her husband with a black eye on Facebook. She appealed to the population not to further fuel the negative mood: "Everyone is called upon to de-escalate and not to inflame the negative mood any further. Because that's what happens with the constant agitation." Despite the harsh political conflicts in which Koza has been stuck for some time, his family's support remains unbroken. The tense situation in Vösendorf is exacerbated by the planned increased police deployment at the upcoming local council meeting.

Mayor Koza is considered a controversial figure in the community, especially after investigations into breach of trust and abuse of office that were closed in March. In May he won the early local council elections with 48.9 percent, thereby consolidating his position. This vulnerable situation and the ongoing opposition to him seem to have found expression in the threat that Koza now experienced. The incident sheds a bright light on the political atmosphere and the climate of conflict that currently prevails in Vösendorf, as the “Kurier” also reports.
