Current hour in the Federal Council: Finance Minister Gunter Mayr makes his first appearance

Regular committee work in parliament is currently suspended due to the ongoing coalition negotiations after the National Council election. Nevertheless, there is a certain amount of activity in the National Council, Federal Council and the committees. Among other things, the first appearance of the new Finance Minister, Gunter Mayr, in the Federal Council is imminent. Furthermore, the Federal Council will discuss the National Council's recent resolutions on a new sanctions law and measures against money laundering at its meeting. The impact of the state elections in Vorarlberg also plays a role, as one of the three Vorarlberg mandates changes from the Greens to the FPÖ. The remaining two mandates of the regional chamber remain with the ÖVP. As a result of this change, the ÖVP and the Greens lose their majority in the Federal Council. Therefore, all three Federal Councilors from Vorarlberg will be inaugurated into office during the meeting on December 5th. source

At the same time, the Federal Council's EU Committee will hold a meeting to discuss the annual report of the European Court of Auditors for the 2023 financial year. Finally, the Presidential Conference of the National Council will meet on December 5th to set the agenda for the last National Council meeting of the year. The week from December 2nd to 6th is characterized by various parliamentary activities in Austria. Due to the ongoing coalition negotiations after the National Council election, regular committee work has been suspended for the time being.
