SPÖ celebrates successes in local council elections in Styria!
The local council elections in Styria took place today, March 23, 2025, and provide an exciting look at the region's political landscape. Loud OTS The Austrian Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) was able to secure many of its positions and even recorded growth in several municipalities.
An outstanding example is Kapfenberg, where the SPÖ achieved an increase in votes of 4.6 percent and was thus able to expand its first place. Voters in the municipalities of Wagna and Turnau also showed their loyalty by giving the SPÖ over 70 and 80 percent of the votes respectively - for the second time in a row.
Municipalities with stable red results
The SPÖ was able to maintain its red-colored position in other cities such as Liezen, Spielberg, Zeltweg and Knittelfeld. These results represent an important confirmation of voter confidence, despite the overall challenges.
However, the elections were not without difficulties for the SPÖ. In Bruck an der Mur they suffered bitter losses. The reasons for these declines are diverse and are related not only to the dynamics of local council elections, but also to local challenges that influenced voter behavior.
Thanks to the election campaigners and outlook
SPÖ federal manager Klaus Seltenheim took the opportunity to thank everyone who was actively involved in the election campaign. “Your commitment was crucial,” he emphasized, making it clear that the SPÖ’s main goal is to regain the voters’ lost trust.
The results of the elections give the SPÖ in Styria reason to be happy, but at the same time they show the need to work on the points where there were losses. Political actors are now required to build on these results and convince voters of their commitment.
