Leaving rate cut in Scots: Property tax is getting cheaper!
Next Thursday, December 12th, there is a significant decision in the Schotten Parliament: The new lifting rates for property taxes A and B are to be determined. The municipal financial administration proposes to reduce the lifting rates to 410 percentage points for property tax A and 545 percentage points for property tax B. This adaptation is part of the legal requirements from the 2019 property tax reform law, which goes back to a judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court in 2018, according to which the old evaluation of land was unconstitutional. According to fnp.de , the new set in the meeting in the festival hall, which begins at 8 p.m.
financial effects and reform determinations
The reduction in the lifting rates for the city of Schotten could generate an additional tax revenue of around 140,000 euros in 2025, whereby the total revenue could increase to around 2.942 million euros. Christoph Gall, head of the city's finance department, explained that the new values contain a buffer to compensate for a possible additional burden of the re -evaluation of taxable land. Nevertheless, the individual tax burdens for property owners could change through the reform. While some owners may pay fewer, others have to expect higher costs, since the old procedure is replaced by outdated values from 1964 and 1935, which has significant changes.
For owners who have not yet received a new property tax notice, the previous advance payments continue to apply. These are based on the last annual taxes stipulated and have to take place as usual until a new decision is announced to ensure continuous tax revenue. As explained , income from these advance payments are important, since changes are only possible through a new decision. This means that until the implementation of the new lifting rates in the coming year, there will be a certain pressure on the financial budget of the city. The final decision of the city council is expected to only have a formal character after the Finance Committee already unanimously agreed.
