Viennese police strikes: Over 200 penalties for cycling and scooter bumps!
On Tuesday, April 24, 2025, the Viennese police carried out a comprehensive traffic control, which extended over a period of 12 hours. Loud Kosmo.at the control took place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the entire urban area. Officials from the state transport department and employees of the uniformed bicycle service were involved and were able to determine numerous violations.
A total of 139 organ mandates, i.e. parking lots, were issued. The most common violations included the ride over red traffic lights, the unauthorized use of walkers and driving on pedestrian zones. In addition, the officers punished numerous drivers who used their mobile phones during the trip or did not promote people in accord.
Results of traffic control
In addition to the organ mandates, 109 advertisements were filed for other violations. This includes disregard for one -way regulations and the unauthorized use of sidewalks. It was particularly striking that the number of violations this year increased compared to the control of 2023 when 112 administrative ads and 98 organ mandate were issued. The controls show that the number of violations, especially in red light loss and the use of sidewalks, increases dramatically.
33 alcohol advances were also carried out, while six e-scooters were tested on speed overruns. Some of the vehicles tested reached speeds of up to 59 km/h. This development is explained by the increase in e-scooters on the streets, which are increasingly involved in accidents, with a total of 339 accidents registered in 2023, mainly due to misconduct by the driver.
Causes of the accident risk
A current study illuminates that driving e-scooters is often perceived as a pleasure, which can lead to an increased risk of risk to the driver. This assessment could significantly contribute to the increasing number of accidents, which are due to the unadjusted speeds and the access of non -permitted traffic areas. It becomes clear that both the drivers and the transport infrastructure have to be better adjusted to the increasing number of e-scooters in order to ensure safety in road traffic.
