Vienna Donauinselfest 2025: music, inclusion and summer mood!
Wien, Donauinsel, Österreich - The Viennese Danube Island Festival, one of the largest open-air festival in Europe, is just around the corner. The 42nd edition of the popular event will take place from June 20 to 22, 2025 on the Danube Island in Vienna. Already on Friday, June 19, the festival will begin with a special pre -laid out opening on the rock stage, where the band "Killing Carmen" will welcome the first guests. As reports vienna.at, the organizers expect around 200 music acts on 16 stages and a total of 700 hours of exciting program.
The motto of this year's festival is "Your island. Real moments". The weather forecasts promise a dry and summer-warm weekend, which increases the anticipation for the numerous acts. The highlight performances include indie acts such as Avec and Milky Chance as well as the pop icons Kim Wilde, No Angels and the Austrian Star Josh. The appearance of Out of Orda is the crowning glory on Sunday, but Rag’n’bone will previously enter the stage to inspire the audience.
diverse program and inclusion
In addition to the musical highlights, the Danube Island Festival will also offer an extensive leisure and entertainment program for children, including Kasperltheater and Karaoke-area. The festival's inclusion concept is also particularly important. Among other things, this includes a buddy system for people with impairments and a sign language performance by Pam Eden during the inclusion concert, such as at Donauinselfest.at. Particular attention is paid to the barrier design of the event, which includes wheelchair stands, shuttles and rest zones for special needs.
The festival is also actively involved in social responsibility. The cup deposit of 2 euros can be donated and the proceeds go to the Austrian Cancer Aid Vienna. This is particularly important because the support for cancer patients: inside and their families is a central concern of the charity partnership. Visitors can also purchase handmade #DIF25 bags to further promote the commitment.
sustainability and security
The Danube Island Festival also relies on environmental awareness and sustainability. A sustainability advisory board will advise climate protection measures and check the festival events for environmentally friendly alternatives. This includes, for example, measures for e-mobility and against food waste, as on miz.org.
A comprehensive concept is worked out for the safety of visitors. This will be presented together with the police and the festival management in the coming week. Organizers refrain from calling specific visitor numbers, which points out that the quality of the event is above the quantity. To carry out the festival, 110 tents, 450 kilometers of power cables and 12 kilometers barriers are required to create the frame for an unforgettable experience.
Overall, the Viennese Danube Island Festival not only shows that music and culture are in the foreground, but also that inclusion, social responsibility and sustainability are central aspects of the event. The preparations are in full swing and the organizers are looking forward to presenting a diverse, entertaining and safe festival.
