As part of the annual “Heads of the Year” election, citizens can cast their votes in five categories. This also includes the “Culture & Entertainment” category, in which five outstanding personalities are nominated for their remarkable contributions. Voting runs online until December 22nd.

Particular attention is paid to Emely Myles, who originally comes from Panama and has lived in Sittersdorf for three years. Last year she took part in the popular talent show “The Voice of Germany”, where she was under the tutelage of Irish singer Ronan Keating. The 33-year-old has not only sung in Panama, but also performs regularly in Klagenfurt and at Lake Klopein.

The nominees in detail

Another interesting personality is the actress Julia Mikusch from St. Andrä. She is active as a freelance artist in Vienna and Carinthia and is known for her unconventional approach to questioning social and artistic norms. This year she was seen in the play “Adern” at the Klagenfurt City Theater.

Roland Töfferl, a 34-year-old film producer from Reisberg, has made a name for himself with his documentaries. After studying at the Film Academy in Vienna, he founded his own company, rolin media. A new episode of his series “Pilot Eye” will be released soon.

Cvetka Lipuš is a poet who will receive the Carinthian State Prize for her literary achievements this year. She was born in 1966, also comes from Sittersdorf and has so far published several volumes of poetry, of which her latest work “Odhajanje za zacetnike/Going Away for Beginners” was only translated into German in 2023.

The round is rounded off by Ingolf Wunder, an international pianist and composer from Wasserhofen. He has already been heard in Paris and other important concert halls and won his first prize in a competition in Italy at the age of 14. In 2020, he founded the platform “Appassimo” for musicians to find out the differences between human and AI-generated interpretations of musical works. The 39-year-old has lived in Zurich since 2011.

The nominations encompass an impressive range of talents that shape and inspire the region's cultural landscape. Who of these creative minds will ultimately receive the award in the Culture & Entertainment category will be decided soon when the votes are counted by December 22nd.
