School starts in Vienna: 253,000 children celebrate the first day of school!
The new school year begins on September 1, 2025 for 253,000 Viennese students. Over 20,000 of them celebrate their first day of school. A special photo session to mark the start of school is planned for Monday at 9:20 a.m., which will also be attended by Education Director Elisabeth Fuchs, Dolores Bakos representing Education City Councilor Bettina Emmerling and district head Markus Figl. This event will take place in front of the Börsegasse elementary school, Börsegasse 5, 1010 Vienna. Media representatives wishing to attend the event are asked to contact in advance presse@bildung-wien.gv.at to register. The image and video material created on this day will be used exclusively to communicate the start of school in Vienna in 2025.
Compared to the previous year, there has been an increase in the number of students in Vienna. Loud wien.orf.at 242,000 children have already started the new school year.
