Vienna appoints new city government: Ludwig remains mayor!
Wien, Österreich - On June 10, 2025, Vienna was enriched by a new city government. The Vienna City Council and the Vienna Landtag re -constituted, which was accompanied by the commissioning of the municipal council and the election of the mayor. Michael Ludwig from the SPÖ was confirmed in office with 69 out of 100 votes and performed with a clear commitment to strengthening Vienna as a city of peaceful coexistence and social cohesion. In addition to Ludwig, the Vice Mayers were also elected. Kathrin Gaál (SPÖ) received 70 votes, while Bettina Emmerling (NEOS) was chosen with 53 votes. Both accepted the choice and signed their vow. - Barbara Novak (SPÖ) : finance, business, work, international and digital
- Ulli Sima (SPÖ) : urban development, mobility and Wiener Stadtwerke
The distribution of responsibilities is intended to ensure the effective processing of topics that are important for the city of Vienna. As already mentioned, the responsibility for education and integration lies with Bettina Emmerling. Other central areas such as health and social affairs are looked after by Peter Hacker, while culture and science are summarized under Veronica Kaup-Hasler.
