Tupperware Österreich GesmbH finally turned off the lights on January 9, 2025. After filing for bankruptcy in October 2024, there was initially a positive outlook for the company, but now it's all over. As Stephan Mazal from Creditreform reports, an important vote on a restructuring plan was due today, but it could no longer take place because the license for the distribution of Tupperware products expired on January 8, 2025.

Since the insolvency of the parent company Tupperware Brands Corporation in the USA, the situation has rapidly deteriorated. In December 2024, there was already speculation that Tupperware's European business could be discontinued. In fact, Tupperware Austria only accepted orders until shortly before Christmas. Now the situation is even more critical after no agreement could be reached on the license extension, which meant that from today no more products can be distributed - a knockout blow for the company. “From a business perspective, it is not understandable that the license will not be extended,” said Mazal, who emphasized that Tupperware Austria remained optimistic despite the difficulties and was aiming for a 20 percent quota in the liquidation restructuring plan.

With liabilities of 9.3 million euros, of which around 3 million are disputed, the creditors now have to make do with the remaining assets and claims from business operations, although the distribution rate after deducting costs will be below the originally planned 20 percent.
