Triathlon European Championship: Thomas Frühwirth fetches gold in heated heat battle!

Besancon, Frankreich - Thomas Frühwirth, a 43-year-old athlete from Styria, won an impressive gold medal at the Triathlon European Championship in Besancon, France. The competition, which took place on June 15, 2025, included a distance of 750 meters swimming, followed by 21.8 kilometers of hand bikes and 5 kilometers in the racing wheelchair. Frühwirth ended the race with a total time of 1:02:24 hours and thus clearly prevailed against his fellow campaigners. The runner -up, Geert Schipper from the Netherlands, took 1:08:26 hours, while Joshua Landmann from Great Britain came to the finish with 1:12:58 hours. The competition conditions were demanding, with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, which made Frühwirth to call the race as a "heat battle". He emphasized that the water shower was urgently needed at the finish line in these conditions.

Frühwirth has had a moving sporty career, which took a turn after a motorcycle accident in 2004, which led to cross -sectional paralysis.
