Market days in Aguntum: Experience Roman history on June 14th & 15th!

Aguntum, Österreich - On June 14th and 15th June 2025, the market days will take place in the Archaeological Park of Aguntum, which are organized as part of the European Archeology Days. The market days that Tyrol's only Roman city focus on offer a varied program that appeals to visitors of all ages. The event is intended to promote the interest in cultural diversity and the importance of archeology, such as Dolomitenstadt.

The European Archeology Days are a Europe -wide initiative that has established itself throughout the Council of Europe. Every year on the third weekend in June they attract attention to wealth and cultural diversity in Europe. The program of the market days includes market stalls with craftsmanship, a herbal and soap factory as well as culinary offers. In addition, show and hands-on workshops are waiting for the visitors. Workshops offer the opportunity to get deeper insights into historical crafts, including:

Archaeological Park Aguntum

The Archaeological Park of Aguntum was not only designed as an event location for these days, but also as a place of scientific research. The Institute for Archaeologies at the University of Innsbruck has been carrying excavations on the site since 1991. The aim of this work is to research the Roman walls and artifacts. The entire site was further developed into a park that preserves and restored the ancient buildings.
