In a significant step towards a more environmentally conscious future, two kindergartens were recognized as a climate protection partner in the Voitsberg district. As part of this year's “Ich Tu’s” conference, which was headed by State Councilor Ursula Lackner, the Volkshilfe Kindergarten Krems and the Mooskirchen community kindergarten received this honor. The award emphasizes the importance of education in the field of climate protection and its implementation in early childhood education.
State Councilor Lackner emphasized that the joint use of all ages and social classes was decisive in order to cope with the challenges of climate change. She pointed out that climate protection formation plays a central role and ideally begins in kindergarten to serve the little ones as role models.
Versatile climate protection actions
Both kindergartens, both the Krems kindergarten and that in Mooskirchen, are already implementing numerous actions in their everyday education. These contain regular focus issues and weeks dedicated to climate protection. Since the introduction of the first climate protection plan in Styria 14 years ago, a lot has happened; In the meantime, 95 institutions are actively involved in the various programs, which includes around 2,800 employees.
The project, which is part of the “Ich's Initiative” in the State of Styria, is one of the most comprehensive educational offers in the area of energy and climate protection throughout Austria. This initiative not only supports the educational institutions, but also promotes awareness in the entire population for sustainable action and environmental protection.
Informative measures and practical actions help to bring children closer to the importance of climate protection at an early stage. The award of the two kindergartens is a clear indication that early education leads to more conscious use of our environment.
