Fall prevention for seniors: Successful workshop in Mooskirchen

An extremely informative workshop dedicated to safety in everyday life recently took place in tranquil Mooskirchen. Under the title “Human stumbling block”, Andrea Knoll-Nechutny from the Board of Trustees for Road Safety gave a lecture to a large number of committed senior citizens who are active in the Mooskirchner “Ortsmitte” initiative. The workshop was offered free of charge and aims to provide participants with valuable information about fall prevention.

The event, which took place at the beginning of November, offered those in attendance interesting tips to improve safety and mobility in everyday life. Knoll-Nechutny asked important questions about fall risks and explained how living spaces can be made safer. In addition, practical movement exercises were introduced to promote stability. The participants had the opportunity to try out numerous exercises together, which meant that learning was conveyed not only theoretically but also practically.

Practical exercises for more safety

The focus was clearly on the question: How can falls be effectively prevented? Various approaches were presented that are not only easy to understand, but can also be easily integrated into everyday life. The fall prevention exercises proved to be particularly helpful for the participants. Silvia Tappler from the “Healthy Community” in Mooskirchen emphasized that the event, supported by the Road Safety Board and the community, was a complete success and should inspire many more people to pay attention to their safety.

This initiative is particularly important because falls in old age are common causes of serious injury. The tips and exercises taught in the workshop can make a decisive contribution to minimizing risks in everyday life and strengthening the self-confidence of the participants. Of particular note is the fact that such valuable information was provided in a supportive setting, which facilitated exchange and learning.
