Front brake lights could reduce accidents up to 17%!

An interdisciplinary research team at the Technical University of Graz and the Bonn Institute for Legal and Transport Psychology found in a current study that with the implementation of additional brake lights on the vehicle front up to 17 percent of traffic accidents could be prevented in intersection areas. The investigation, published in the journal "Vehicles", is based on the detailed reconstruction and analysis of 200 real traffic accidents.

Adding a green brake lamp on the front of the vehicles could not only reduce the speed in the event of refunds, but also alleviate potential injuries. Due to the visual signal of this brake light, the reaction time of other road users is shortened, which leads to a shorter stopping route.
