In the early hours of December 21, 2024, Jakominiplatz in Graz experienced an extremely violent incident. A 36-year-old Bosnian man who was on his way home with his ex-girlfriend got into a verbal argument with a previously unknown person around 6 a.m. This argument quickly escalated from words to actions as the attacker first kicked the man and then delivered a heavy punch to his face, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious the Kleine Zeitung reported.
The injured Bosnian was immediately taken to the Graz Regional Hospital with unspecified injuries, where he is now being treated. The police immediately launched an investigation to identify the perpetrator. Witnesses to the incident are asked for their help, as quickly clarifying what happened is of the highest priority Cosmo reports.
Investigations are ongoing
The incident has alarming similarities to a recent attack on Rapid striker Guido Burgstaller and raises questions about security in public areas after dark. While Burgstaller was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a similar incident, the perpetrator in this case remains unknown. It is unclear how serious the Bosnian's injuries are, but police are continuing to bring the attacker to justice.
