Stahlstädter get the championship title - Veronika Honcharova shines!

The recent competitions in weightlifting offered exciting moments and numerous remarkable achievements. At the championships, the second team of SK Vöest Linz caused a sensation by winning against the second set of the WKG Innviertel in the final of the National League. With an impressive point plus of 165.45, they prevail significantly and thus secure their fifth title in the history of the club. In the overall ranking after two finals, the Linzers were able to triumph with 3208.73 points, while their opponents scored 2922.58 points.

The success of the Linz is primarily supported by the outstanding performance of their athletes. This includes 16-year-old Ukrainian Veronika Honcharova, who not only won a bronze medal in the 55 kg class of the U17 EM 2024, but also set three Austrian records in the 59 kg class. This is a remarkable success that shows that the Linzer takes an important place in the weight lifting area.

Leondinger Luca Modrey impressed with record

Another highlight was the performance of Luca Modrey from Leonding. The 19-year-old set up new standards for himself with a new record of 130 kg. During his second attempt in pushing, he raised 165 kg, which earned him a total of 295 kg in a duel. Modrey made it clear that he was about to cross the 300 kg brand in a duel. He managed to cope with 170 kg well, but failed the last time he tried. These services are promising and show that he is on the right track for further improvement, especially since he will complete a training camp in Jerevan, Armenia today.

Another athlete of the team, Philipp Forster, set the highest result of the evening with 320 kg in a duel. Markus Gigl set a new Austrian record in the M45 category at the Masters with 108 kg in tearing, which is known to increase its performance. Hannes Leidenfrost, who returned after an injury, also achieved 220 kg in a duel. This illustrates the strength and endurance of the entire team. In contrast, the Innviertler team was significantly weakened without some of their strongest members, including Matthias Perik and Lena Raidel. The best lifter of the Innviertler, Florian Reisecker, still scored a respectable 308.08 points.

In the final for third place there was a clear defeat for KSV Rum against AKH Vösendorf II with a total point of 2543.38 to 1582.66 from two competitions. The 21-year-old Victoria Steiner was the outstanding star in Vösendorf and scored 356.23 points, while Mario Secka achieved the best value of his club with 352 points.

In the Upper Austria Landesliga, the final between SK Vöest Linz III and WKG Wels/Buchkirchen was also exciting. The Linz team won the title with a clear 3-0 victory. In this competition, Manuel Littringer achieved the best total number of 315.43, while Wels also impressed with 318.18 points by Dominik Schröpfler.

These competitions clearly demonstrate the strength and performance of Linz's weightlifting athletes, who continue to make a lasting impression on the Austrian sports scene.
