Digital pioneers honored: the Upper Austria Digital Prize 2024

On November 13, 2024, the Linz tobacco factory turned into a festive event location when around 300 guests came together to celebrate the awarding of this year's Digital Prize in Upper Austria. This event took place for the sixth time and is organized by the OÖNachrichten together with prominent partners such as the Sparkasse Oberösterreich, KPMG, the city of Linz, the state of Upper Austria and the Viennese urban.

The award ceremony recognizes outstanding services in the digital sector in several categories, including "digital start-ups", "digital transformation", "digital project", "digital personality" and the award for "digital pioneering performance" that was awarded to individuals for their life's work. A special honor also went to a woman from the digital area who was awarded the special "Digitalia" prize.

Awards and award winners: inside 2024

The submission period for the applications ended on October 5, whereby there was a pre -selection by the jury for the "Digital Personality" category. This was led by IT: U-foundation President Stefanie Lindstaedt. The event was moderated by OÖN and Marvin Wolf from ORF by Barbara Eidenberger. The elegant trophies, made with a 3D printer, were provided by the Voestalpine.

Charity Putz from Kematen am Innbach received a special honor, which was recognized as a "digital personality". She celebrated this success with her team, which she passionately supported. In the "Digital Project" category, Wolfgang Kurz won the award from Coders-Bay that successfully trained migrants. Christoph Shawa and his team from Talents & Company were awarded in the “Digital Start-Up” division for their support from companies looking for the right digital personnel.

In the "Digital Transformation" category, Ventopay from Hagenberg prevailed, a software company with specialization in large kitchens and community catering, which is now also active in Germany and Switzerland. The outstanding Christine Antlanger winter received the special award "Digitalia". The Linzer, now working in Google in Switzerland, heads a large research team there that develops innovative digital products.

A particularly emotional honor went to Gerfried Stocker, who was awarded for his life's work. He has shaped the Ars Electronica in Linz for almost three decades and is recognized for his services to the digital networking of art, technology and science.

The event not only offered a platform for awarding digital pioneers, but also the opportunity to strengthen significant networks in the field of digitization and technology. Former winners and patrons were pleased with the development of the digitization landscape in Upper Austria and the constantly growing number of innovators.
